Fishes at the Fort Fundraiser Dinner and more
A brief July newsletter about an August local food event
Lots and lots and lots of you (I’m not kidding) send me emails or social media messages or ask me in person: when are you doing another event? The long answer is long, but the short answer is, next month! While the Eating with the Ecosystem event I’m going to tell you about isn’t an Eat Drink RI event, as a board member of EWTE and a lover of local seafood, you’ll find my (food safe) fingerprints all over Fishes at the Fort.
Please join us at Fort Adams for a multi-course dinner event out on the patio by the pier overlooking Newport and the Tall Ship Oliver Hazard Perry. This is a completely unique location for a seated dinner (and for those thinking about recent weather, don’t worry we have a huge tent reserved that we hopefully won’t use).
There will be a cocktail hour with raw bar and hors d'oeuvres, and then a seated four-course dinner, all prepared by four wonderful chefs who are very kindly donating their time to Eating with the Ecosystem:
Josh Berman, Little Fish & J B Cuisine
Lucie Moulton, The Gourmet Goddess
David Standridge, The Shipwright's Daughter (and fellow EWTE board member)
Jason Timothy, Troop
There are more details on our chefs on the ticketing page. Please have a look at the menu below and purchase tickets.
We’re working on wine and beer pairings for all the courses. There will be some fisherpeople at the event to regale you with their sea tales and a live auction during the evening too. The entirety of the proceeds for the evening goes directly to Eating with the Ecosystem, a small nonprofit with a unique mission: to promote a place-based approach to sustaining New England's wild seafood.
This all came together very quickly like only our phenomenal food & drink community can do, so I really hope you can join us for a one-of-a-kind dining experience. There’s lots more information on the ticketing page.
Sticking with the seafood theme, I hope you watched one of my recent tasting videos with a mussel dish:
I tasted these Turkish stuffed mussels from Chef Tugba Kaplan for the very first time on video, so please check it out (and you know: subscribe, ring that bell, like, comment, etc.).
In addition to tasting videos, I’ve got several cooking videos using seafood on my channel, like this one on How to Prepare Chicken Fried Skate or How to Make New England Clam Chowder with my perfect chowder recipe, if I do say so myself.
If it’s hot and humid where you are I hope you’re staying safe and drinking lots of water. I appreciate your reading this newsletter and I hope to see you in Newport on August 18th if you’re able.
